Whole Home Renovations
Location: Bay Village, Boston
Project Date: 2016 Scope: Residential, Single Family. 2,100 square ft.
Description: This complex project was a gut renovation of a 100-year old townhouse. This was a very small footprint with a goal of extreme energy efficiency. By removing 1970’s-era infill brick and single pane windows and working very closely with the Bay Village Historic Commission, we were able to reinterpret the facade to include a recessed entry, inspired by, and in keeping with, entries on the block. The new entry sequence also allowed us to create a piano nobile living floor. The house features two master suites on the second and third floors, a new roof deck, and creative mechanical and structural solutions. Built-ins, use of knee-space, and clever lighting strategies also help maximize and customize the space. The house is currently being used as a combination Air BnB/art gallery/recreation space.

Location: Back Bay, Boston
Project Date: 2012 Scope: Top floor addition and home renovation. 7,688 square ft.
Description: For this project we were hired to create another story of top floor living space that included access to spacious, rooftop decks for entertaining. We worked closely within the strict guidelines set up by the Back Bay Architecture Commission. Materials were used to match the architectural style of the neighborhood such as custom iron work for the railings and copper cladding for the headhouse. Additionally, we managed all aspects of refreshing this entire single-family brownstone. This included painting, refinishing hard wood floors, and the installation of smart home technology.
